Lauren's Letter

Happy spring! If you and your group are training for the Danskin Women's Triathlon Series, the good people at Danskin have teamed up with Team Survivor to make sure the triathlon experience is a very special experience for our first time tri-athletes.  Those of you who have enjoyed doing the race can help pass on the good news: anyone who has the desire, will receive the support needed to train and finish their first triathlon.  If you need some help getting your training program started, or if you need materials, training programs, or have questions, contact Mandy and she'll see that you get what you need.

Team Survivor is recruiting for an Affiliate Board Member to sit on the National Board.  Mandy has sent out the guidelines. Please take time to review the material and nominate a representative.  This is an important position that will assist NATS in fulfilling its mission to support the efforts of the affiliates.

Exciting news:the NATS web site update is nearing completion, the brochure is right behind. The National Leaders' Meeting location has been changed to Tampa. This location will give us the opportunity to do some Dragon Boat paddling!  The dates: September 27-30. Watch this newsletter as information becomes available.

Finally, if you haven't already done so, please complete your Affiliate Update and send it off to Mandy.  Our liability insurance renewal, which covers all affiliate programs, is dependent upon receiving this information.  If you have questions contact Mandy, or myself.

Thanks for all you do for the women on your team.   NATS is here to support your efforts.  Let us know what we can do to support you.

· Most "popular" program offering: Yoga

· Most successful new member outreach or recruitment effort: word of mouth

· Biggest challenge:

Finding volunteers. I do everything myself except for some help from my husband.

· Most successful fund-raising program:

Did a joint fundraiser w/ Y-Me - a breast cancer group - a swim-a-thon.  I think we raised about $8000 split it 50/50.

I also did a spin-a-thon at my gym.  We raised almost $2000 but over a $1000 of it was donated by my husband's friends. He told them all, that he would ride for 3 hours in a red speedo, if they could come up w/ at least $1000.  So he humiliated himself for the benefit of TSSD.  What a good guy!
